New motherhood is a marathon, but this first-time mama finished the ultimate race
Molly Waitz
Molly completed her first marathon ever at 9 months postpartum. She ran 26.2 miles AND pumped 20 oz of breastmilk en route to the finish line #withWillow.
Finishing the NYC Marathon was a total dream for Molly. As a pumping mom, she figured out a way to make it work with Willow secured beneath her sports bra.
“I pumped for the first time somewhere between miles three and four and then I did it again right off the Queensboro Bridge, which was mile 16,” she said. “I slowed down a little bit to do it but I didn’t really have to. You could do it blindfolded.”
Molly popped her full Milk Bags out of the pump and into her cooler backpack without skipping a beat. She finished the race in 6 hours, 18 minutes with dozens of ounces of milk stored for her son, Bode.
“Anything is possible if you want to do it,” she said.
We couldn’t agree more, Molly.
